Over the past nine years, four different acupuncturists have treated me for chronic lower back pain from spinal stenosis and bulging disks. Earlier this year I turned to acupuncture again, this time for treatment of persistent bursitis in my left knee and a flare up of back pain. I was new to the Pasadena area and found Katerina Ryan on the panel of acupuncturists approved by my health care provider. She is by far the best acupuncturist I’ve ever had.... Read more »
I highly recommend Katarina. She is professional and knowledgeable. She takes the time to explain exactly what she is doing and how it will help me. There are no magic cures to recovery but I can say this is as closest it gets.
I have suffered from debilitating headaches for three years, resulting from numerous brain surgeries. It has now been two months since I started going to see Katarina at Acupuncture Therapeutics and I am amazed at how my headaches have reduced from... Read more »
I came to Katarina because nothing that my two doctors had offered relieved a problem I had in my throat and tongue. After a couple sessions I had complete relief from what I think was a fungal infection from inhaled cortisteroids. This worked so well I sought treatment for sciatica. Katerina kept my condition from advancing and offered me much less pain between visits. Her manner and technique are soothing and each visit was a healing experience.

Acupuncture for Anger Management
Anger is the emotion associated with springtime in Traditional Chinese Medicine. For most of us, we consider anger a bad emotion, something to avoid or get rid of, so why would it be one that TCM would shine a light on?
Well, no emotion is inherently good or bad, it’s how we deal with challenging emotions that can end up Continue reading
Acupuncture for Diabetes
More than 34 million Americans have diabetes, and approximately 90 percent of them have type 2 diabetes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Type 2 diabetes, while its exact cause is unknown, develops when the body becomes resistant to insulin or the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin. Because of this, treatment often involves taking “insulin sensitizers” Continue reading
Intention setting in the new year
It’s that time of year again: the time when many of us engage in the practice of setting a new year’s resolution.
It seems, though, that hand-in-hand with new year’s resolutions is the prediction of inevitable failure. That as soon as you pick a resolution, you won’t actually make it through the whole year sticking with the new behavior, Continue reading
Opioid Addiction: What Is It and Why Is It Prevalent Today
Opioids. A word all too common to today’s society. Since the late 1990s, the number of opioid-related deaths has increased dramatically, having taken the lives of nearly 64,000 Americans each year.
The opioid epidemic is considered to be the deadliest crisis in United States history and overdoses have also become the leading cause-of-death in people under the Continue reading
